The Mayas here in my community are trying to preserve tradition and one of these traditions is that they do not use the modern “washing machine” to do their laundry, instead they use big stones to do their laundry. They first have to choose the stones that they would use, and they would use that specific stone for the rest of their lives. After they have past on their children would carry on the tradition an use that same stone that they chose. The ladies say it works better than a washing machine. They first wash the clothes then after a while they would beat the clothes on it and it would come out as clean as it was when they first bought it.
